Making a Puzzle Box with the xTool P2
Inspired by puzzle boxes seen in movies and tv shows, I design one that can be made from 3mm wood using a laser cutter. I call it the Nexus Crypt because it looks like a coffin. I offered my kids $100 if they could open it.
Beware the jumpscare.

I Built a Robot to Paint Expensive Art

Can We Recycle 3D Printing Alcohol?
Просмотров 212 тыс.2 года назад
What if you had an unlimited supply of alcohol? We use a lot of alcohol (isopropyl, IPA, or denatured) in resin 3d printing, specifically to clean parts. And what do you do with it after its dirty with resin? In this video I try out a ceramic gravity filter to see if it can clean alcohol so we can reuse it. I had mixed results. Is it worth the hassle? Tell me what you think in the comments. Tha...

Thanks for the info. I'm trying my first filtering job. I allowed it to settle and then tried to leave most of the contaminates behind. Then, I put the alcohol in jugs and left them in the sun for ~16 hours. The plan is to pour what remains, through cheesecloth and see what I have. I hadn't thought of the method you mention and I'll be placing an order to Amazon shortly. :) BTW I'm visiting my local fire department because I'm considering using a distiller. So far, it will be at least 25 feet from any dwelling. It will be contained in either a steel worksite box or an order oven. Personally, I'm leaving towards the oven. That way, if there is combustion, it will be contained. Thanks again for the great info.

you can remove methanol if the high concentration messes with your chemical process by heating it up to 65-77C (depending on the ratio of loss vs methanol reduction you need.) this doesn't remove the denatonium, and produces methanol vapor so you'd need to go outside and have something to capture the methanol though for consumption you'll be better off bringing fermented sugar water to a distillery.

RE: From the U.S. Mint - In my research it indicates they used much larger originals and had a special mechanism with a pencil then guide - possibly a type of lathe or grinder transferring as one moved at much smaller detail while hand tracing the larger blueprint... that took it from originals size to coin size, and etched it - then they could get the detail with closeup eye ware a meticulous process, yet they started large to get the smaller detail corrected before the reductions.

The info about the ipa is wrong. The smell of the ipa is just that, the smell of ipa. I’m a pharmacist and i have 99.9% pure ipa, it still has the distinct smell. No matter how much you try to filter it, you won’t get rid of it. It was not denatured during prohibition with methanol and bitters or whatever to make it undrinkable because ipa is undrinkable anyway. In fact, ethanol is the only alcohol fit for consumption. All other alcohols are poisonous. Ethanol was denatured so the government could tax alcohol for consumption without having the same tax on ethanol meant for other purposes than drinking. Edit: your filter setup should have an exhaust in the lower bucket. This way the air can escape and be replaced by the ipa. Without the exhaust the ipa has a hard time going through the filter and into the bucket because of the pressure inside the lower bucket.

Hi i just find your videooo. Because I was having trouble printing some stuff. And this video helped me a lot. But I had a problem I printed one piece facing away the platform and other piece facing the platform….and I realized that the one facing away the platform the details are better on the surface but in the other hand it didn’t fit where it was súpito fit….and the second piece I printed facing the platform lost a little bit of details but it fit perfect to the surface it was supposed to fit…..so that triggered a question ? Is it possible the fit changes depending if it’s facing the plate?

Bro…the smell from isopropyl alcohol is not something you can filer away…it is molecules of IPA evaporating and floating around in the air that your nose is detecting in the air…second…those filters are designed for water and filtering normal, relatively clear and mostly clean water. Essentially tap water that you want to filter out chlorine smell/taste, dissolved minerals etc. Filtering relatively clean water gets you get the “rated for 1000 gallons” number. You might as well be filtering swamp water/muck. The number of gallons you get to run through a filter is going to be far less due to clogging up.

Overexposure is not the only culprit of elephant's foot. There is little time for resin to settle after the build plate has entered the resin, positioning itself as the next layer is exposed. Some printers allow per layer settings and can be tuned with UV tools
